Hey all, today am here to talk about something that's becoming the sensation in India! Unless you are living under the rock, you would have definitely come across the term "k-drama". You would have heard about it through a friend, read about it, seen on social media or discovered it your self! (yea, thanks to boredom). :P

K- drama which is short for "Korean drama" is the talk of the town, which has found its place in the hearts of the teenage girls (largely) and doesn't look like its leaving the place anywhere in near future.

Korean, always remained us of - LG, SAMSUNG... and if you are a music lover you would have heard about 'k-pop'. But today we have reached an era, where K-dramas are flooding across the world and is becoming a wildly accepted foreign culture.

So, whats k-drama?

K-drama refers to television dramas in Korean language made in South Korea. Its unique because it has distinct features that set it apart from regular western television series or soap operas.

I discovered this magically addictive "k-dramas" a year ago and have been a huge fan of Korean culture, actors, dramas, music and even the language ever since then. This Korean fever gets you very easily. Just watch one episode of any of the series and that's it, you would have become a lover of K-dramas long before you could realize!

From my personal experience and analysis of why K-dramas are becoming so famous across various countries shows some simple reasons which no K-drama lovers can deny.

So, without any further due, lets get to it!!!!

1. ACTING!!

At times I wonder whether they even ACT! Every thing seem so real. The actors live the characters. The intensity in their acting really takes the drama to an entirely new level, making everyone want to watch it! Not bluffing, watch it to know it! You will definitely be awe struck!!!! ;)

2. STORY LINE!

Okay!! One of the main reasons why K-dramas are becoming popular is because, they are beyond the usual! Be it a love story, be it a thriller, Be it an action... or a mythology based series... everything has its own twists making it more interesting to watch. And the fact that, the series have only around 20 to 25 episodes, (without any follow up seasons)... leaves the viewers longing !!!

3. DENSITY OF CHARACTERS!

One thing that I love about K- dramas are, the importance given to every single character in the series. Be it the protagonist or the supporting characters, the amount of work put in to bring out the true essence of each character, is clearly seen when you watch the drama. Every single person brings the character to life!

4. BACKGROUND SCORE!

Music is undoubtedly one of the main ingredients to be added to enhance the flavor of a drama. The beautiful blend of the songs in the dramas makes you wanna listen to it again and again and again. It just reminds me that "language is no barrier, if you have the heart to understand". (No kidding, wasn't gangnam style catchy despite its cheesiness?? :P ...there are way too better songs you will love to listen!!)

5. SMILE !! :)

Aweee!!! I don't even have to say it. As far as, I have seen, all the Korean actors have such a cute smile that you will fall for it in an instant! I guess, their smile can melt even a rock! :P

6. EVERY GIRLS' FANTASY!

Sometimes, it may seem like a fairy tale! The unconditional love portrayed in K- dramas are a treat to the eyes. Though it is a fantasy, they make it look as real as it could be! Everything that a girl dreams to see in her prince charming... is perfectly captured in K - dramas. Which is clearly one of the reasons for the increase in viewership around the world!

7. CUTE, CUTE,CUTE!!

Everything about K- drama is way to cute to be true! Their cute accessories, cute dresses, cute expressions...etc etc... make girls go crazy!!
Girls = cute, Korean drama = cute, therefore girls = Korean drama!
simple na?? :P :D

Aaaaaand, That's it folks!

BOYS OVER FLOWERS AND PLAYFUL KISS... would be perfect, two series to make you fall in love with Korean!

Times have changed to be hard on us! As the years pass by, I wonder who has the satisfaction of living the life that they once wished???

When I look at the society of ours from a top angle - right on top from where the crazy creator is - all of us down here are divided by a line. Ofcourse am NOT talking about the equator! This line has never manifested "equal", not even close. Its the Line of Money!

On one side we have the people who are loaded with money and on the other.. the people who are trying to cross the line and move towards the plenty side of it. The funny part here is, people with lots of money, all of the seem like they belong to the same bundle. No difference between them because they all can afford the need, want and desire.

But people on the other side of the line are the complicated lot. Even though they are all together on the same side of the shore, there is a world of differences between them. Each one's need, want and desire may be the same but their affordability differs to a great extent.

We have the so called upper middle class - who are close to the line, then there is middle class - who stand second and then we have all the other people below the middle class, which is sadly the majority in our country. The catch here is all of these sub categories.

Okay right! this is general economics, you didn't want me tell you all of these. Agreed! But what am trying to point out is how we have let the money rule us. Its become the ultimate deciding factor in what ever we do or need. Consciously we have tided our eyes so not to see money take over mankind.

Here's what happened...

It was a normal Wednesday evening, my cousins and I went to watch a movie at the mall. We bought the "normal class" tickets and went to the theater. Next to our seats, few kids aged between 6 - 15 years were seated. The movie was played and all of us started to enjoy! During the intermission, my cousins went out to get something to eat and I remained in my seat. Left alone, I started to medal with my phone and just then, the small kid next to me, began to pester the elder brother to go with him to the counter to get something to eat. But the elder one refused to go with him. The kid innocently said, "I have 100 rupees please come with me". Looking at it, the elder brother said that he wouldn't get anything for 100 rupees and it's waste of time to go out. Though, the kid refused to believe his brother, he forcefully took him out but returned without buying anything.

Are you able to see the irony of life here? How money has eaten away our smallest of joys. Going out for a movie and enjoying it with a pack of popcorn seems such a normal thing. But, the small kid could not get even that little happiness which would have been his worlds dream. Sadly we are living in an era where the movie tickets are lesser than the popcorn price. :/

Money has grown to be way to powerful than we can imagine. Things that seem normal are turning out to be luxury to most of us. As the movie dialogue goes - richer is getting richer and poor is getting poorer. Movies change, actors change, audience and theater also change, but this age old dialogue remains true even today.

Isn't there a need for us to do something about this. We need to act before money takes way the value of life.

{I hope it does offend anyone. Just wanted to share how unfair life is becoming for some of us. I mean, when did popcorn become a luxury!??!}

It's happening and it's happening in less than 2 weeks time.

With all the rush and fuss about exams, assignments.... last minute submissions, I didn't realize that I was graduating in 2 weeks. There was a sudden pause in my life, when my friend asked " Did you buy your white saree?" ( saree for graduation. that's how we roll it and white is my college tradition). I looked up at her in surprise because I didn't see it coming so soon. A hazy memory hit me and went back to the day I first entered my class room. It wasn't very long time ago. Just 2 years back I remember me looking out for various colleges, deciding on courses to choose, filling up application forms.... and today am already in the last page of that chapter.

When we say Graduation, we all know it's about - conferring of an academic degree. But, is that all?? Is it only about finishing the degree and leaving the college?? Definitely not! We attach so much emotions to this word Graduation. If it was as simple as saying - we are done and we are leaving - I don't think there would be any meaning to all those teared up eyes that we see on the day of graduation.

Friends, class room chats...naps :P, sharing lunch, boring lectures, imitating teachers, college trips.... all the fun, laughter, fights and fear that we had during our college days... we will miss it all no matter how silly or dumb it was. It's such an irony that how much ever we crib and say we hate our college, in the end we only cry and wish to go back!

But, my take on "graduation" is even beyond this. Having graduated ones (i.e my under graduation) and now being in masters and graduating makes me look at things in a more matured way. So, I believe this time when am graduating it's more than a celebration and even more than saying a good bye!

It's about keeping a promise. Promise to our college, promise to our loved ones... our society, our country and more than anything, a promise to our own conscious.

The promise that am talking about is a promise -

- To be true to our hearts

- To dream higher and achieve

- To be helpful and caring

- To be responsible and respectful

- And most of all to be a good Human Being!

Untill we are in college it's like being inside a mother's womb. Everything is safe and secure. Every single person in this world always wish to go back to their college life because, it's a bright, fun and colourfull part of life. No big responsibilities and no big commitments. But, once we graduate everything changes. Life takes a new turn and that's when we realize we are grown ups!

Julie Durden wrote in her graduation song, when we go out there -" the world is big and everything seem out of reach, the sky is high and the walk is wide". Amidst all the struggle it's important for us to remember our roots, our lessons, our alma mater. Whatever we do, whom ever we become, where were we go... it all began here in college when we stepped in, when the first bell rang. So, even when the times are hard and you feel you can't go on.. the plan is to remember to just follow the heart, because our heart knows - where we come from, what we have learnt and what we have promised.

With all the excitement for my graduation, all am left with to say is, suit up, light the candles, play the song, dance on... lets graduate with a promise for a lifelong.

Happy Graduating to my class! Will miss you all!

When the rest of the world is busy climbing the ladder, the ladder of success, which apparently looks huge and endless, I sit jobless, clueless, pointless.

Before I move on further, let me clarify one thing... this ain't another story about a last bench student, or a jobless graduate, it's about that 70% of the people who are struggling to make way to the reality through their dreams.

Am in that phase of life, where it's time to put on your serious, firm, ambitious look and put behind your idiotic, childish behavior. It's when your white shirts and ties hang in front while your jeans and t's sleep in the bottom rack.

Yes! it's time for JOB INTERVIEWS.

Just when it felt like it all has just started, am already in my final semester. Though am more happier than ever before, that am getting out of college and can finally be free from all exams, assignments... ppts and notes. A slight fear has began to settle in. It's not getting any better after each day, but only increases as the graduation comes closer. What is so frightening is the question - WHAT PLANS NEXT?

You know, you have reached the danger zone when your FAR of relatives start ringing up early morning, when your teacher start questioning about your basics, when your you tube videos and mangas are replaced with news channels and business line! Because now the headlines or hot news or spot light whatever you call it is to see - where you are getting placed.

Do you have placements? Have you registered? Which company are you applying to???? Feels like gunshots directed straight through your head!

Life all of a sudden from being bed of happy - happy moments turns to be a nightmare. The problem begins from the day when the most dumbest person (no offense intended :P) in your class gets into, probably not the topmost, but a decent company with a decent package and you can't even crack an aptitude. More than that, it's the reactions of the people around that makes it even more worst! Makes you rip apart yourself! You start questioning about your potential, hard work, passion.... everything that you thought u had it to get what you want. But nobody cares to understand that you are not getting in because it's not what you want!

One thing that has never changed even after 66 years of Independence is, the same old reaction of your parents when they hear you saying you want to become an entrepreneur. Not making an generalized statement, but most of them in my experience have only been that way. Especially if you are a GIRL then, don't even bother to bring up the topic.

Well, the point is, even after years and years and years of trying to spread awareness about education, the need for empowerment, importance of entrepreneurship, and listening to great speakers inspiring to follow our dreams, passion and reading all those books about normal people achieving great success, watching movies which time and again emphasis on following our heart.... even after all this, why hasn't our mentality not changed?

On one side though there has been increasing popularity about entrepreneurship, and India becoming a land of opportunities for potential dreamers and doers, there is still the SAY NO to entrepreneurship side of the society. I don't think you can easily deny on this because, have you ever heard a father saying oh son! awesome you want to become an entrepreneur... that's a great idea...go head ?... NO! Being Different has always been a crime in the eyes of our well educated parents.

What I don't understand is what is there to fear about it? If that's your dream then what's wrong in following your heart and do what makes you happy? Of course we may fail and have to battle with lot of obstacles, but isn't that what life is about? After all it's through them, we learnt what life is... what it means to rise up and fight back every time life stumbles you down. So, if they don't believe in us then who else will?

Has it become a rule that all entrepreneur's story of success should be on how they started their companies or achieved their dreams without telling their families? what about "Support", is the word itself becoming a myth?

With thousands of questions, millions of dreams and heart full of hope, am writing to reach out to those 70% of us, trusting that this brings some ray of hope and feeling of not alone.

Am still on my way struggling to convince people around me to let me have that one chance to try for once what I really want. After all shouldn't everyone of us get the chance to live the life that we imagined?

Hoping to begin with the life of my dream soon, am ending with a hope to see a much open minded society who encourage us to do things, just because it's what we want, just because it's what we believe in, and just because... it's been our DREAM.

Who thought that all the time that you spent watching cartoons, fancying over some imaginary characters, all day and night, would actually teach you some real life values?!

As kids, I bet, all of us would have spent our days in front of the television watching our favorite cartoons, back to back.. including the repeats. Apart from the fact that it was FUN to watch them, and pretend to be one of them, these cartoons surely had a deeper impact on all our lives...

As I woke up this morning, I had everything planned for the day. Everything was set to have a perfectly normal day. But, some days just don't turn out to be the way you have planned. It could end up to be a worst one or even better than a normal happy day!

Today, was one such days for me.

As I was enjoying my normal day, a sudden twist to the day came in the form of an old friend, whom I was seeing after 6-7 years. As you all know, 'old friends' means 'old talks'... the excitement of meeting after soo many years really took us back to the good old days of schooling. As we started talking about all the fun, mischievous, unforgettable days of our teen, made us realize how fast time flies and how things can change in a blink of an eye.

Finally after taking a small trip back to our good old days, we came back to reality. And reality has not been easy on her. Talking to her reminded me of the majority of us. The majority who fail to act when they should have. The smallest things that could have been done to create life changing opportunities. The chances that we miss out on by not making a choice to take a chance. Her life was now filled with disappointments and regrets.

Even after she left, there was something stuck in my mind. It did affect me a lot. I had too many thoughts and questions about life. Why do most of us make our life so complicated?

So, I finally decided to put this up on my blog to remind a small fact that most of us forget and also share a small philosophy of my life.

I ain't saying I don't have any regrets in my life. I have made mistakes in past and am pretty sure I will be making a lot more in the years to come. But that's life! We learn and grow from our mistakes. But I don't ever crib on the mistakes that I have made in my life, because they were my choices!

"I prefer doing what I want to do when I want to do it... I would rather regret my actions later than regretting the chances that I didn't take'

Life is too short and most of us keep forgetting that. It's very short to live with disappointments and regrets. If you want to do something, and if your heart says it's the right thing, then just do it right away. Of course, there is every possibility that it may turn out to be a wrong choice, but at least you know that now... you need not have to live your life with IF's and MAYBE's ...you need not have to live with the regret of not taking a chance!

I am just writing this with a hope that somewhere, someone may decide to take a chance...make a choice to do what they want and not regret later...

As I woke up this morning, a bad memory flashed into view. It's something awful that always puts me into deep pain and fear.

Not too long ago.. There was a bomb blast in the locality I live.. It took away life's of few innocents.. And left behind painful scars for many. Even before the scars could heel and fade away, there was another devastating incident which took the city by storm. It claimed the life of a mother, injured few and left the others in trauma.

The question that keeps taunting me is..
Where is this world going to? This cruelty, hatred, greed, How did it find us? Do we have a name for this darkness that is breeding inside us..??

Someone once said, We would soon reach a time, where we send our children into the world like we send young men to the war.. Hoping for their safe return, knowing that we would lose some of them along the way... And today we have reached that world. We have reached the time where we are obsessed with our own desires and go to any extent to take what is ours and not bother whom we hurt along the way!

When did we lose our way? When did we let the darkness take over us? Did it consume us... Or did we seek it out and embrace it with our lives?? Is there still even a slightest reason to believe that humanity exists among us?

Every time I think of this distressing event, I find no reason to believe that we are still 'being humans'. There is no reason left for me to believe that it's going to get better after each day. But still something keeps pushing me, a voice that constantly says I should never give up believing, it always echoes that I should hold on to the little hope stuck in some corner of my heart.

This voice constantly keeps echoing within all of us. Every time you are losing hope, or giving up on something, or when you tend to do something that you shouldn't ...it echoes. It's like a warning alarm. It's like a guide within us. But most of the time we tend to ignore it. We get so easily carried away by the things around us that we have forgotten to listen and do what our hearts say. Probably if the person behind causing these awful events had given just one minute and listened to his heart, we wouldn't have lost our dreams, our dear ones, our lives.

I don't know whether am trying to question things for which answers are unknown or am trying to make a judgment.. Or trying to find an answer for the innocent souls who left for no fault of theirs.. Or maybe I am just too confused and lost a midst this darkness! But whatever it maybe, whether or not am going to find an answer for my questions, I surely have got reminded of something that I had forgotten to do. To LISTEN. To listen to the voice of my heart.

With a hope that soon things would change and we get to live and give our generations to come to live, in a world that is whole lot better than today, I wish that I wake up for a better tomorrow.
