WE ARE THE 70% OF THE SOCIETY!
When
the rest of the world is busy climbing the ladder, the ladder of success, which
apparently looks huge and endless, I sit jobless, clueless, pointless.

Before
I move on further, let me clarify one thing... this ain't another story about a
last bench student, or a jobless graduate, it's about that 70% of the people
who are struggling to make way to the reality through their dreams.
Am
in that phase of life, where it's time to put on your serious, firm, ambitious
look and put behind your idiotic, childish behavior. It's when your white
shirts and ties hang in front while your jeans and t's sleep in the bottom
rack.
Yes! it's time for JOB INTERVIEWS.
Just
when it felt like it all has just started, am already in my final semester.
Though am more happier than ever before, that am getting out of college and can
finally be free from all exams, assignments... ppts and notes. A slight fear
has began to settle in. It's not getting any better after each day, but only
increases as the graduation comes closer. What is so frightening is the
question - WHAT PLANS NEXT?
You
know, you have reached the danger zone when your FAR of relatives start ringing
up early morning, when your teacher start questioning about your basics, when
your you tube videos and mangas are replaced with news channels and business
line! Because now the headlines or hot news or spot light whatever you call it
is to see - where you are getting placed.
Do
you have placements? Have you registered? Which company are you applying to????
Feels like gunshots directed straight through your head!
Life
all of a sudden from being bed of happy - happy moments turns to be a
nightmare. The problem begins from the day when the most dumbest person (no
offense intended :P) in your class gets into, probably not the topmost, but a
decent company with a decent package and you can't even crack an aptitude. More
than that, it's the reactions of the people around that makes it even more
worst! Makes you rip apart yourself! You start questioning about your
potential, hard work, passion.... everything that you thought u had it to get
what you want. But nobody cares to understand that you are not getting in
because it's not what you want!
One
thing that has never changed even after 66 years of Independence is, the same
old reaction of your parents when they hear you saying you want to become an
entrepreneur. Not making an generalized statement, but most of them in my
experience have only been that way. Especially if you are a GIRL then, don't
even bother to bring up the topic.
Well,
the point is, even after years and years and years of trying to spread
awareness about education, the need for empowerment, importance of
entrepreneurship, and listening to great speakers inspiring to follow our
dreams, passion and reading all those books about normal people achieving great
success, watching movies which time and again emphasis on following our
heart.... even after all this, why hasn't our mentality not changed?
On
one side though there has been increasing popularity about entrepreneurship,
and India becoming a land of opportunities for potential dreamers and doers,
there is still the SAY NO to entrepreneurship side of the society. I don't
think you can easily deny on this because, have you ever heard a father saying
oh son! awesome you want to become an entrepreneur... that's a great idea...go
head ?... NO! Being Different has always been a crime in the eyes of our well
educated parents.
What
I don't understand is what is there to fear about it? If that's your dream then
what's wrong in following your heart and do what makes you happy? Of course we
may fail and have to battle with lot of obstacles, but isn't that what life is
about? After all it's through them, we learnt what life is... what it means to
rise up and fight back every time life stumbles you down. So, if they don't
believe in us then who else will?
Has
it become a rule that all entrepreneur's story of success should be on how they
started their companies or achieved their dreams without telling their
families? what about "Support", is the word itself becoming a myth?
With
thousands of questions, millions of dreams and heart full of hope, am writing
to reach out to those 70% of us, trusting that
this brings some ray of hope and feeling of not alone.
Am
still on my way struggling to convince people around me to let me have that one
chance to try for once what I really want. After all shouldn't everyone of us
get the chance to live the life that we imagined?
Hoping
to begin with the life of my dream soon, am ending with a hope to see a much
open minded society who encourage us to do things, just because it's what we
want, just because it's what we believe in, and just because... it's been our
DREAM.
